Still strong demand for used broadcast equipment

Following our recent insight into the Broadcast sector, we are pleased to report that there is still a strong global demand for used broadcast equipment at the moment, demonstrated by our most recent auction. The sale featured a large selection of Broadcast equipment including professional high-quality cameras, lenses and accessories. The auction sale, with our partners @ca-global-partners in facts:

  • Attracted over 230 registrants from 27countries
  • Over 100 bidders
  • Over 1,700 views on some lots
  • 100% sell through rate

It was a superb result and supports our recent advice that values are holding despite the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on productions and events.

In practical terms, it confirmed that the global market for good quality lenses remains buoyant with some highlight products achieving significant sales such as a Canon cine 17-200mm PL lens at £13,000, a set of Kona anamorphic lenses set at £34,800 and Cooke S4 PL’s achieving up to £9,700. Cameras overall also largely performed well with an Alexa Mini reaching £27,500.

Tim Chapman of Hickman Shearer commented,

“The broadcast sector has had a really tough time as a result of the pandemic. We have supported production and hire companies through refinancing and these auction results illustrate that asset funders and investors can confidently continue to support the sector”.
